Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. Nothing quite encapsulates the launch and excitement of the region as this out-of-world collection of cars including movie cars and tributes, desirable classics, and a rocket truck itself. 3… 2… 1… These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE.

* * *

The German-built Maybach 62 and its shorter sibling, the Maybach 57, were introduced by DaimlerChrysler AG (now Mercedes-Benz Group AG) in 2002, marking the brand's return after several decades of dormancy. The 62, based on the Mercedes-Benz W140 platform, was designed to compete directly with other ultra-luxury vehicles like the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

The 20-foot-long Maybach 62 features an aerodynamic design and a sophisticated look that is highlighted by a prominent grille with vertical slats, Bi-xenon headlights, additional glass behind the rear doors, and two-tone exterior paintwork. Under the hood, the 62 is powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V12 engine producing 543 horsepower and is mated with a five-speed automatic transmission; together they deliver a smooth and exhilarating driving experience. The sedan’s spacious interior features premium leather upholstery, wood trim, and a host of advanced features such as a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, 21-speaker Bose premium sound system, heated and cooled seats, heated cup holders, and a rear beverage refrigerator.

Despite its impressive features and performance, the Maybach 62 struggled to achieve commercial success. Production continued until 2013, when the brand was discontinued. This meticulously maintained 2005 Maybach 62 shows only 27,824 original miles.
