Our classic and collector motorcycle and scooter insurance is tailored to protect rare, historically significant, and collectible motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds.
How is classic motorcycle insurance different from my everyday motorcycle insurance?
With more than 40 years in business, Hagerty has a deep understanding of auto enthusiasts and the vehicles they own—including classic and collector motorcycles. We know that collectible vehicles are usually driven less and loved more, which is why we can offer better protection for a lower cost than standard insurance. Every motorcycle is unique, so we offer customized coverage for exactly how you use yours.
Does my motorcycle qualify?
We protect motorcycles:
- With a minimum value of $2,000. For collections of three or more motorcycles, the value is $1,000 per bike. This includes motorcycles under restoration.
- From the model year 1996 and older, but we will cover some from '97 to present day. We will consider newer models too—call us to chat about options today.
- That are modified.
What about custom-built frame or structurally modified motorcycles?
- Motorcycles must be from the year 1975 or older.
- Minimum insured value is $7,500.
- Replica motorcycles can be considered. (For example: A 1951 Harley is restored on a 1973 Harley frame).
- Custom-built trikes are not eligible.
Do you cover raced motorcycles?
- Coverage does not apply when your motorcycle is on-track.
- No professional race teams are allowed.
- Dirt track and motocross bikes can be considered.
- Coverages may be limited or unavailable for some risks or states.

Your bike is filled with years of love, work, memories, and stories that can’t be replaced. That’s why we offer Cherished Salvage®, which lets you keep your motorcycle and still receive your full Guaranteed Value® after a covered total loss.*
Vehicle under construction
For motorcycles that are actively being worked on, Hagerty offers Vehicle Under Construction, which automatically increases your bike’s Guaranteed Value® by 10% per quarter up to a maximum increase of $25,000 and offers $750 of coverage for automotive tools.
Motorsports advantage
