Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. Nothing quite encapsulates the launch and excitement of the region as this out-of-world collection of cars including movie cars and tributes, desirable classics, and a rocket truck itself. 3… 2… 1… These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE. * * *
By the mid-1970s the American convertible was dead, the victim of changing demographics and a potential Federal ban on soft tops. Yet less than ten years later convertibles were making a comeback.
The 1985 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country Convertible blended classic styling cues with contemporary technology. The Town & Country Convertible, produced from 1983 to 1986, was distinguished by its simulated wood paneling, reminiscent of the famous 1940s Chrysler Town & Country models. This model was part of the LeBaron series, which Chrysler offered from 1977 to 1995.
In 1985, the LeBaron Town & Country Convertible featured a front-wheel-drive layout and was powered by a range of engines, including a turbocharged 2.2-liter inline-four and three-speed automatic as on this example. The car was equipped with a power-operated convertible top, luxurious leather interiors, and a comprehensive Mark Cross package that included additional comfort and convenience features. It included an electronic voice alert system, which provided spoken warnings for various vehicle functions — a novel feature at the time.
The 1985 model year saw limited production numbers with only 595 units sold, making it a rare Eighties-era automobile — and this one is showing just 66,022 miles from new.
