Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Hagerty Marketplace is honored to offer another selection of vehicles from The SugarCreek Collection. This private collection in southwestern Ohio is supported by its own in-house restoration and maintenance shop, with a full-time staff of craftsmen. The garage is a true spectrum of car enthusiast dreams, ranging from unfinished restorations to the most recent sale of the SEMA-exhibited 1,000 HP 1962 Dodge Power Wagon, supporting the Mike Rowe WORKS Foundation. Thirty select cars from the collection are being offered just in time for spring. Whether awaiting restoration, preserved showroom stock, restored to like-new, or tastefully modified, these cars and trucks are truly SugarCreek quality.

“Can you think of another automaker that annually sends a two-man expedition to Italy to choose the tree of the year?”  Road & Track magazine asked. “Not just any tree will do for the instrument panel and window moldings of a Rolls-Royce.”

When launched in 1965, the Silver Shadow represented a radical departure from what a traditional Rolls-Royce was thought to be. Styled by John Polwhele Blatchley, the new Rolls-Royce's modern design was matched with major technical advancements at with the introduction of disc brakes, independent rear suspension, and its first model to utilize unitary construction instead of the traditional body-on-frame design.

Powering the Silver Shadow was Rolls-Royce’s 6.75-liter L410 series V8 engine, coupled to a three-speed GM Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic. One of its most innovative features was the high-pressure hydraulic system, licensed from Citroën, which offered self-leveling suspension and ensured a remarkably smooth ride. Inside is a spacious, opulent handcrafted interior, with Conolly leather seating and that Circassian Walnut veneer. The Silver Shadow also included modern amenities such as air conditioning, power windows, and advanced sound insulation.

Road & Track concluded, “Rolls-Royce, the epitome of the American dream both as a symbol of success and what success can bring.”
