Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. Nothing quite encapsulates the launch and excitement of the region as this out-of-world collection of cars including movie cars and tributes, desirable classics, and a rocket truck itself. 3… 2… 1… These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE.

Introduced as part of Hudson's luxury lineup, the 1941 Hudson Commodore Eight Touring Sedan was designed to offer an improved blend of performance, comfort, and style. Although it may seem unfathomable today considering the multitude of options and colors available, Hudson's 1941 brochure touted its new “Symphonic Styling by Hudson,” which coordinated interior colors and fabrics with the exterior paint. “Up to now, one upholstery color has usually done duty with [all] body colors ... [Now] beauty takes its biggest forward step: Brilliant new design and interiors that harmonize with exterior colors at no extra cost ... which has never been possible for any other automobile company."

Hudson also claimed to produce “America's safest car,” with “features that ‘think’ for you when there's no time for you to think!” That included Double-Safe Hydraulics, which added a separate mechanical braking system to the hydraulic brakes, and Auto-Poise Front Wheel Control, which was designed to “keep wheels on their true course, even if one blows.”

This 1941 Hudson Commodore Eight Touring Sedan is powered by a 254 cu-in inline-eight engine and features luxurious styling inside and out. One of the Commodore’s contributing designers was Betty Thatcher-Oros, who is touted as the first female automotive designer in America.
