Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Charles Griffin’s lifelong love affair with American cars began at sixteen when he restored a dusty blue Studebaker. The passion he had for that car followed him through the rest of his life. Over the years, the scale of his garage and projects grew in step with his love for cars. Ultimately, Charles built his own restoration paradise, complete with a paint room, body shop, show room and features that most gearheads only dream about. His sanctuary became a second home to his family and friends. The selection of fine automobiles offered here represents the passion, drive, and memories that Charles shared. Hagerty Marketplace is honored to present the Griffin Collection, offered entirely without reserve.

The 1912 Hudson Model 33 Touring was a remarkable automobile of its era, representing innovation and performance from the Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan. Introduced as the sole model in Hudson’s lineup that year, the Model 33 came in various body styles, including the popular 3-door touring car. It was powered by a 226-cubic inch, mono-bloc four-cylinder engine producing 33 horsepower, paired with a Stromberg carburetor.
Nicknamed the “Mile-a-Minute” Hudson, the Model 33 was capable of speeds exceeding 60 mph, a remarkable feat for the time. It featured advanced components such as a 100-mph Warner Auto-meter, demountable rims, and a 30-gallon fuel tank. A 10-gallon oil tank and quick-fill caps made it suitable for both road use and racing. The car also included a Disco self-starter, a notable innovation in 1912.
Hudson produced around 6,000 units of the Model 33 in 1912, reflecting its popularity and the company’s growing reputation. With prices ranging from $1,600 to $2,750, it was a premium vehicle that helped solidify Hudson’s place in the early American automotive industry.
