AM General touted its M1097R1 — a variant of the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, commonly known as the Humvee — as "cost effective, capable, and sustainable." Introduced in the early 1980s, the HMMWV was designed to replace several vehicles in the U.S. military's fleet, offering versatility, durability, and high mobility across various terrains. 

By the 2000s, the M1097R1 Humvee (almost 16 feet long, more than 7 feet wide, and weighing 5,600 pounds) had become a crucial component of military operations and was known for its enhanced payload capacity and robust design, making it suitable for a wide range of missions, including cargo transport, troop movement, ambulance services, and various defense weapon systems. 

The 2005 AM General M1097R1 is equipped with a 6.5-liter V8 diesel engine, providing 190 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque, automatic transmission, and fulltime shiftable 4x4 centrifugal brake system with dual transfer case. The vehicle’s design includes independent suspension and high ground clearance, making it adaptable to diverse environments. This one is an RPM Night Edition with Line-X exterior coating, custom removable aluminum doors, all-black interior, and removable soft top.
