Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. Nothing quite encapsulates the launch and excitement of the region as this out-of-world collection of cars including movie cars and tributes, desirable classics, and a rocket truck itself. 3… 2… 1… These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE.

This Japanese hearse, known as a Miyagata Reikyusha — Japanese for "Shrine Hearse" — was used in Japan to transport the deceased from the mortician to the crematory. Miyagata Reikyusha vehicles are heavily decorated with ornately carved wood, but most do not depict any Buddhist symbols so that they can also be used for Shinto ceremonies (the indigenous religion of Japan).
This Miyagata Reikyusha was built on a 1995 Nissan Cima four-door luxury sedan, which was manufactured and marketed by Nissan from 1988 to 2022 exclusively for the Japanese market. Part of the second-generation FY32 series, the '95 Cima catered to the high-end market in Japan, making it the perfect base car for these elaborate hearses. It was available with either a 3.0-liter V6 engine or a 4.1-liter V8 (which this one has), paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Inside, the Cima offered a spacious and luxurious cabin that included leather and cloth upholstery, wood trim, and a range of electronic amenities such as automatic climate control and premium sound system. The car also had anti-lock brakes and airbags.
Today, these Miyagata Reikyusha remain a significant part of Japanese funeral traditions and provide a striking example of how cultural practices can evolve while maintaining deep-rooted traditions.
