A hallmark of American luxury, the Lincoln Town Car was produced by the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company from 1981 to 2011. The name "Town Car" originally referred to a limousine-style vehicle with an open chauffeur's compartment and an enclosed passenger area, a design that transitioned from horse-drawn carriages to automobiles in the early 20th century. Introduced as a standalone model in 1981, the Town Car was built on the Ford Panther platform shared with the Mercury Grand Marquis and Ford Crown Victoria.
This 1987 Lincoln Town Car four-door sedan is a Cartier Edition, which came with upgrades like Crystal and Titanium paint, a Coach vinyl roof, wire wheels, and Oxford Gray leather seats with the Cartier logo stitched into the seatbacks. It is even more special, however, because of its Hollywood connection.
The car was featured in The Lincoln Lawyer, a 2011 legal thriller starring Matthew McConaughey as lawyer Mickey Haller, who works in a chauffeur-driven Lincoln Town Car — this one — rather than an office. The Town Car was also featured in Season 6 of the FX series Sons on Anarchy and appeared in HBO’s True Blood.
