Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Hagerty Marketplace is honored to offer another selection of vehicles from The SugarCreek Collection. This private collection in southwestern Ohio is supported by its own in-house restoration and maintenance shop, with a full-time staff of craftsmen. The garage is a true spectrum of car enthusiast dreams, ranging from unfinished restorations to the most recent sale of the SEMA-exhibited 1,000 HP 1962 Dodge Power Wagon, supporting the Mike Rowe WORKS Foundation. Thirty select cars from the collection are being offered just in time for spring. Whether awaiting restoration, preserved showroom stock, restored to like-new, or tastefully modified, these cars and trucks are truly SugarCreek quality.

In the mid-1930s, brothers Richard and Allan Jensen bought a coachbuilding firm in West Bromwich, England, and renamed it Jensen Motors. They hit the ground running in 1934-36 by customizing 30 “Jensen-Ford” vehicles, to critical acclaim. Jensen Motors’ contribution to the WWII war effort hardly slowed its innovation, and in 1950 the Jensen Interceptor Coupe was revealed. But it was the stunning second-generation Interceptor that put Europe’s best Grand Touring cars on notice.

Revealed in 1966 and built through 1976, the updated Interceptor was a mix of daring Italian design, big-inch American V8 power, and handcrafted British luxury. Its sleek body balanced a long hood with a sweeping, glass-filled fastback rear; a dual-headlight front end bled into vertical fender flares and five-spoke alloy rims; and its interior boasted comfortable leather buckets and a sea of high-end, circular gauges. And while early models used Chrysler 383s, the final Mk III versions got torquey 440 cu-in V8s with enough grunt to rattle an Aston Martin—along with a much simpler pushrod layout for reliable performance.

This clean Interceptor was recently restored by SugarCreek. Not only is it a desirable, final-version Mk III, it’s also one of only 424 1973 Mk IIIs produced with left-hand drive, making this car exceptionally rare.
