Hagerty Marketplace is honored to offer another selection of vehicles from The SugarCreek Collection. This private collection in southwestern Ohio is supported by its own in-house restoration and maintenance shop, with a full-time staff of craftsmen. The garage is a true spectrum of car enthusiast dreams, ranging from unfinished restorations to the most recent sale of the SEMA-exhibited 1,000 HP 1962 Dodge Power Wagon, supporting the Mike Rowe WORKS Foundation. Thirty select cars from the collection are being offered just in time for spring. Whether awaiting restoration, preserved showroom stock, restored to like-new, or tastefully modified, these cars and trucks are truly SugarCreek quality.

“Get a Cobra,” Ford marketing suggested. “Sensational 428 V-8, standard. Great in competition, yet gentle on a Sunday drive. Hiss and hers.”

The 1968 Ford Torino was introduced as part of Ford’s intermediate line, replacing the Fairlane as the upscale model. Named after the Italian city of Turin, the Torino was designed to offer a blend of performance and style, with a new body design with a longer, wider look than its predecessor. Available in SportsRoof, Hardtop, and Convertible bodies, Torino featured a sleek distinctive grille and dual headlights. The shape worked; the 1968–1969 Ford Torino “SportsRoof” fastback shape had a major advantage in NASCAR, due to its aerodynamic design. Drivers like David Pearson captured numerous victories behind the wheel of a Torino, helping Ford secure the Manufacturer’s Championship in 1968 and ’69.

By 1969, the Torino had become its own model line, with the 428 CJ being the ultimate performance option. The 428 cu-in CJ V8 engine rated a conservitave 335 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. The Torino’s interior was designed for comfort and style, with options for bucket seats, a center console, and various trim packages. But this Hardtop was ordered with minimal options to keep it at fighting weight.
