Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Hagerty Marketplace is honored to offer another selection of vehicles from The SugarCreek Collection. This private collection in southwestern Ohio is supported by its own in-house restoration and maintenance shop, with a full-time staff of craftsmen. The garage is a true spectrum of car enthusiast dreams, ranging from unfinished restorations to the most recent sale of the SEMA-exhibited 1,000 HP 1962 Dodge Power Wagon, supporting the Mike Rowe WORKS Foundation. Thirty select cars from the collection are being offered just in time for spring. Whether awaiting restoration, preserved showroom stock, restored to like-new, or tastefully modified, these cars and trucks are truly SugarCreek quality.

* * *

In 1961, Buick’s full-size line—which included LeSabre, Invicta, and Electra models—was completely redesigned. The ’50s-era wing-shaped fenders and long tailfins were scrapped, and replaced with handsome horizontal body lines and less brightwork. Buick positioned the mid-level Invicta as a sporty, nimble luxury car, and thanks to a shorter wheelbase and a smaller body, the Invicta was a couple hundred pounds lighter than its Electra stablemate. Combined with the highest-powered 401 cu-in V8 with four-barrel carburetor, a Turbine Drive transmission with innovative “switch pitch” torque converter, and a coil-sprung X frame with performance suspension geometry and fin-cooled brake drums, the Invicta’s performance was quite surprising to those who expected a lumbering luxobarge.

However, the cabin was definitely a luxury environment: occupants enjoyed a bright Mirro-magic instrument panel, custom padded seat cushions, a deluxe steering wheel, electric wipers and clock, trunk and glovebox lighting, and dual sunshades. And power steering, power brakes, oversize tires, and true dual exhaust could also be added.

This 1961 Buick Invicta convertible was restored by SugarCreek, and wears Arctic White paint, a Red and White leather interior, and a white power convertible top.
