Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. Nothing quite encapsulates the launch and excitement of the region as this out-of-world collection of cars including movie cars and tributes, desirable classics, and a rocket truck itself. 3… 2… 1… These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE.

As World War II ended, Chrysler, like many other automakers, resumed civilian car production, adapting refreshed pre-war designs to meet the burgeoning demand for new vehicles. By 1947 Chrysler offered six models, with the Windsor, originally introduced in 1939, slotting below the larger Saratoga, New Yorker, and Crown Imperial models.

The 1947 Windsor featured minor aesthetic updates from its pre-war versions, including extended front fenders that contributed to a more aerodynamic appearance. It was powered by a 250.6 cubic-inch, “Spitfire” L-head, six-cylinder engine, delivering 114 horsepower with a standard three-speed column-shift manual transmission or optional two-speed fluid-drive semi-automatic. The Windsors interior boasted wool broadcloth upholstery, a fully carpeted front compartment, and various optional features such as twin heaters and an all-weather air control system.

The 139.5-inch wheelbase limousine variant was designed for executive transportation and commercial use, offering ample space and comfort for up to eight passengers when the dual jump seats were employed. Priced starting at $2113.00, just 1,496 were produced. Chrysler’s division supplied a vast number of vehicles for the war effort; now automobiles like the 1947 Chrysler Windsor Eight-Passenger Limousine exemplified the era’s blend of practicality and style, serving the nation with peacetime innovation.
