The 2022 Can‑Am Defender Max X MR continues the legacy of the X MR lineup, originally launched in 2019, as a hardcore mud‑focused version of the Defender Max series. Designed for low‑speed, low‑traction environments, it was specifically engineered for swamp and extreme trail work. For 2022, Can‑Am introduced a fresh Liquid Titanium and Magma Red paint scheme alongside the Mossy Oak Break‑Up Country camo option, enhancing its aggressive aesthetic.

Underneath, the 976 cc Rotax HD10 V‑twin remains, delivering 82 hp and 69 lb‑ft of torque, paired with a PRO‑TORQ CVT featuring Can‑Am’s Quick Response System and electronic belt protection. The X MR package upgrades the drivetrain with Smart‑Lok front differential, a lower gearset, and a strategically routed air intake and CVT ventilation system optimized for mud conditions.

Built on a heavy‑duty chassis, it features a 64‑inch track, arched A‑arms, 15-inch ground clearance, 30-inch ITP Cryptid tires, rock sliders, HMWPE skid plate, 4,500‑lb winch, and a steel bumper — tools for extreme environments. Inside, the cockpit includes a 7.6″ display, Versa‑Pro bolster seats, brake‑holding mechanism, and practical storage options.
