Following a 2006 auto show reveal that stunned enthusiasts and casual observers alike, the Dodge Challenger concept got the green light for production. Based on the legendary styling of the 1970 model, the 2008 Challenger was an instant success. And despite late first-year production that only produced hi-po SRT8 versions, models and trim levels exploded in later years as production continued. Buyers could choose powerplants between a responsible V6 or hot V8s, with auto or manual transmissions, all wrapped in that glorious bodywork. 

The Challenger was lightly revised for 2015. And while the grille and taillamps may have been split, they weren’t a split from tradition. The design team took cues from the 1971 Challenger, and that theme continued inside with a ’71-inspired dashboard. Engine options included the 485-horse 6.4-liter Hemi, available only in the Scat Pack 392 with optional “Shaker” hood scoop, a visceral connection to its 1970s E-body ancestors. But the performance of the Scat Pack 392 is far above their 1960s ancestors: 0 to 60mph in just 4.2 seconds and the quarter mile in 12.6 seconds.
