“The 427 Cobra does accelerate and decelerate at unbelievable rates…” wrote Car and Driver magazine in 1965. “What's more, it is a more civilized machine than the original 289 Cobra that brought the fabulous Shelby organization into being four years ago.” Carroll Shelby’s formula was simple: pack a giant V8 engine in a small, light roadster, giving it an almost motorcycle-like power-to weight-ratio. It’s hard to believe Shelby only built 343 427 Cobra supercars, but when Ford no longer needed to race them, Shelby had no reason to continue building them. Such rarity results in genuine 427 Cobras costing a true fortune.  But over the years, numerous companies began offering Cobra replicas, bringing the rare 427 Cobra experience to the masses.

This replica is finished in striking metallic silver with black “Le Mans” stripes. A matching silver and black vinyl interior is a nice touch. Plus, this one is powered by a proper Ford “FE” engine much like Shelby’s Cobras used. Original-style details abound, such as reproduction Talbot-style mirrors and quick-fill fuel filler, offering the 427 Cobra experience — at a fraction of the price.
