In 2011, the handsome Ford Mustang was mechanically refreshed to better compete with the powerful, retro-styled Chevrolet Camaro — and it hit a home run. The Mustang’s powerful new base engine and impressive performance quickly put the Camaro on notice.

Ford’s 3.7L V6 was a high-tech revelation, offering dual overhead camshafts and variable valve timing for an impressive 305 horsepower. This Mustang sang to 7,000 rpm and screamed to 60 mph in as little as5.4 seconds. Complementing that engine was an updated suspension that held an impressive .96g through the corners, and four-wheel disc brakes that stopped the car from 60 mph in only 104 feet.

Factor in available features like leather-trimmed seats with power operation and heating, plus a voice-activated SYNC Bluetooth system and 500-watt Shaker stereo, and the revised Mustang V6 offered near-GT performance levels and features — for thousands less. Car and Driver concluded, “Ford did its homework. The Mustang V6 is an astonishingly good car.”

This 2012 Ford Mustang is finished in Performance White , and it is equipped with the Premium trim’s uplevel interior with dashing Lava Red seating surfaces, as well as the Comfort package’s heated power seats. A 6-speed automatic and a 3.31 rear axle provide impressive acceleration, while the V6 Pony and V6 Coupe Accessory Packages enhance its looks. Modifications are limited to 18" American Racing wheels, a Corsa dual exhaust system with polished tips, and mud flaps.

• The included CARFAX history report lists a “potential odometer rollback” when the reported odometer reading went from 40,400 miles in October 2017 to 40,000 miles in October 2018. This may be a clerical error.

The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this two-owner 2012 Ford Mustang Coupe in Kansas from new. It was acquired by the seller in 2016 and is now offered with a clean Kansas title in the seller’s name.

The seller states, “I purchased this Mustang on 9/30/2016 at 39,656 miles and have watched the odometer advance up to the current 45,175 miles. There was no odometer rollback.

Its original owners obviously took very good care of it, and I’ve never driven it in rain, snow, or when the streets are salted. It has always been garaged with a battery tender on. I always change the oil as soon as the notice comes up on the dashboard, and I drive it once a week (weather permitting) for at least 35 minutes. I’m a member of MCA [Mustang Club of America] and the local Mustang club.”
