The Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is synonymous with American law enforcement, thanks to its conventional rear-wheel drive, V8 power, and body-on-frame construction, all deemed advantageous for police use. The body-on-frame design allowed for cost-effective repairs after collisions without the need to straighten the chassis, while rear-wheel drive provided better maneuverability and durability, particularly in urban environments with obstacles like curbs. Equipped with heavy-duty components such as a revised transmission and a 250 horsepower engine, the CVPI was tailored for police duty.
