Description
The Northstar-powered Cadillac XLR entered the market in 2004 as the brand’s flagship two-seat convertible. Based on the C6 Corvette’s rear-wheel drive chassis and wearing scalpel-sharp body lines, it was the purest production application of Cadillac’s “Art and Science” design language. And the XLR’s low, sleek profile got even sleeker with the touch of a button, which prompted its power-folding hardtop to drop.
And in 2006, Cadillac raised the bar with the high-performance XLR-V, which offered 443 horsepower courtesy of a supercharged Northstar V8 that was paired with a six-speed automatic with manual control. And GM’s excellent Magnetic Ride Control worked with high-performance brakes and performance tires for dynamic handling. In short, the XLR-V was a luxury Corvette.
It was also visually breathtaking, with large wheels complementing a V-Series wire mesh grille and lower fascia, a more aggressive hood, and V-Series fender and decklid badges. And inside, occupants were greeted by a premium leather-wrapped interior featuring suede-insert buckets and wood and aluminum accents — with a V-Series instrument cluster the only clue as to the XLR-V’s performance potential.
This rare 2008 Cadillac XLR-V looks striking in black, wears uplevel chrome alloy wheels, and is ready to pamper its next owner with neck-snapping luxury.
