Description
The 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata marked the debut of the third generation (NC) model. Introduced at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, the NC Miata was the first to be built on a platform not shared with the earlier models. This generation was slightly larger and more refined than its predecessors, offering improved safety, comfort, and rigidity while maintaining the Miata’s signature lightweight, rear-wheel-drive roadster formula. The NC also introduced electric power steering, and a more modern suspension setup derived from the RX-8.
Mazda offered several trims including the Club Spec, a stripped-down version aimed at enthusiasts and track-day drivers. The standard engine was a 2.0-liter MZR inline-four producing around 170 horsepower, but as with previous Miatas, the engine was often tuned or swapped for more performance.
This 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata has been modified as a high-performance grand tourer. The most notable of the roadster’s many upgrades is an engine swap, as its original 2.0-liter inline-four was replaced by a turbocharged and intercooled 2.5-liter inline-four engine, installed and tuned by Dynotronics Tuning and rated at 320 wheel-horsepower. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission by Walter Motorsports, along with a 3.6 differential with Quaife LSD.

Ownership History
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this three-owner 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata Custom GT in California and Michigan. It was purchased new on 8 September 2005 in Irvine, California, before being sold after 794 miles to a buyer from Grand Rapids, Michigan, in February 2006. The current owner, also from Grand Rapids, acquired the car in November 2009 with 10,700 miles on the odometer. It currently shows 39,968 actual miles. The seller says the Miata is “accident free, has never been driven in salt or raced, and is stored November-April each year. The previous owners only drove it in the summer.”
