Description
The story of Cadillac’s 443-horsepower, retractable-hardtop “luxury Corvette” began in 2004. The Northstar V8-powered Cadillac XLR debuted that year as the brand’s flagship two-seat convertible. Based on the C6 Corvette’s rear-wheel drive chassis and wearing scalpel-sharp body lines, it was the purest application of Cadillac’s “Art & Science” design language. And the XLR’s low, sleek profile got even sleeker with a touch of the console-mounted roof control button.
And in 2006, Cadillac raised the bar with the high-performance XLR-V, which supercharged that 4.4L V8 for 414 lb-ft of torque, and paired it with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual control. The XLR-V’s chassis was also upgraded with GM’s excellent Magnetic Ride Control, as well as 13” cross-drilled disc brakes.
Visually, the XLR-V was breathtaking: its V-Series wire mesh grille and lower fascia complemented the more aggressive hood and 19” wheels, and subtle V-Series fender and decklid badges were also added. And inside, occupants were greeted by a premium leather-wrapped interior featuring suede-insert buckets and wood and aluminum accents — with a V-Series instrument cluster the only clue as to the XLR-V’s potential. Car and Driver concluded, “The engine…punching out 443 horsepower at 6400 rpm, is enough to propel this 3,840-pound convertible to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and through the quarter mile in 13 seconds flat.”
Just 299 XLR-Vs were finished in Light Platinum for 2006, including this example. It wears a Shale interior, and has only traveled about 32,300 miles since new.
This 2006 Cadillac XLR-V is now offered by the selling dealer with owner's manuals, a clean CARFAX vehicle history report, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
