2005 Hummer H2 SUT

Description

The Hummer brand, originally known for its military-grade Humvee, transitioned into the civilian market in 1992 with AM General’s release of the civilian Hummer H1. In 1998, General Motors (GM) acquired the Hummer brand, leading to the introduction of new models under the Hummer name. The Hummer H2, one of these models, was a full-size SUV built between 2002 and 2009. In 2005, GM expanded the H2 lineup with the H2 SUT (Sport Utility Truck), a four-door pickup with a unique midgate design that allowed for increased cargo versatility by connecting the vehicle’s interior with the external cargo bed.   It was designed on a modified GMT820 GM three-quarter-ton pickup truck chassis in the front and a half-ton 1500 frame in the rear. Building off of the ideology of the H1, the H2 continued with the same offroad focus, but with increase creature comforts. Initially offered as an SUV, the bold redesign of what a pickup truck could and should be have continued to capture the attention of anyone nearby to this day, whether on or off the road.
