Introduced for the 2003 model year, the Chevrolet SSR (Super Sport Roadster) was an ambitious exercise in nostalgia, blending retro pickup styling with contemporary chassis engineering. To address criticism about the lack of driver engagement, Chevrolet in 2005 swapped in a more powerful 6.0-liter LS2 V8. If the 90-hp boost wasn't enough, Chevy also made a 6-speed manual transmission available. So-equipped SSRs finally fulfilled the retro-sport nature of the bowtie brand's unique open-top retro pickup truck.
