Description
“The SSR draws its share of smiles and thumbs up. It’s new and different, classically American fun to drive, and will be a popular date on cruise night.” Motor Trend didn’t mince words about the Chevrolet SSR. It had been a bold vehicle since its 2003 introduction: inspired by 1940s trucks, the SSR wore sleek lines, bulging fenders, large wheels, and a unique, retractable hardtop roof. It was a breath of fresh air, effortlessly blending retro styling with modern performance.
For the 2004 model year, the SSR continued with its live rear/independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, as well as its 300-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 engine. A four-speed automatic backed up that mill, and gave the SSR some muscle to go along with its magnetic curb appeal.
Only 10,676 SSRs were built in 2004 with only 2,122 in Smokin’ Asphalt Black, making it a unique collectible admired for its distinctive blend of retro flair and muscle car performance. This example is dressed in black, and has only traveled 58,480 miles from new.
