Description
The 2004 Z06’s moon-shot 11.97 quarter-mile blast in GM High-Tech Performance magazine cemented this race-ready Corvette’s legend. However, the C5 Z06 had been terrorizing drag strips and road courses since its 2001 introduction.
Much of the credit goes to the groundbreaking LS6 engine. This high-strung, 5.7L V8 was a factory-tuned evolution of the LS1, and featured high-flow cylinder heads, a high-lift camshaft, and a revised intake to deliver 405 horsepower through a close-ratio six-speed manual. The Z06’s hardtop body wore a titanium exhaust and thinner windshield glass, tipping the scales at just 3,118 pounds — about 100 pounds lighter than the Corvette coupe.
Combined with a capable suspension that pulled 1g on the skidpad, and powerful disc brakes that yanked it down from 70 mph in only 152 feet, the C5 Z06 was a supercar that was comfortable enough to commute in. Motor Trend reported, “To really get an appreciation of what this thing’s capable of, you need a racing seat…the cornering capabilities are that good.”
Showing just 36,800 miles, this 2004 Z06 is one of only 2,025 Commemorative Edition models built. The exterior is finished in unique Le Mans Blue including a Commemorative Edition-specific carbon fiber hood, while a Shale interior is framed by a back-half roll bar. Additional modifications include a performance camshaft, cold-air induction, aftermarket intake, and high-flow exhaust system, with chrome C6 Z06 wheels hiding Wilwood brakes. This tastefully-upgraded, low-mile C5 Z06 is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX history report, owner's manual, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the selling dealer’s name.
