Description

2003 Porsche 911 Turbo Start and Walk Around Video

‘Just put it in "D" and off you go -- as fast as you dare.’ – Car and Driver

Performance deals, especially among luxury automakers with devoted followings, are few and far between, particularly for exceptional cars. However, there are some cars that slip through the cracks – even if just for a little while – that provide astounding levels of performance, looks, and brand cachet at a fraction of the cost when new. Of course, the 996-generation 911 Turbo (2001-2005) is one of those unique cars. A well-regarded model that outperformed its relative value for far too long, the word is now out about the first water-cooled generation 911 Turbo’s startling power and performance figures. Featuring a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, 996 Turbos equipped with the optional five-speed Tiptronic S transmission - as this Basalt Black Metallic example is - could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds on the way to a top speed of 185 mph. As such, it was one of the most potent and capable sports cars of its time, remaining impressive even by today's standards.
