Back in 1953, Chevrolet referred to its new Corvette as the “first of the dream cars to come true.” A half-century later, the fifth-generation Corvette was the most radically redesigned version of America’s sports car. The new C5 was stiffer and lighter than the previous generation C4 due to the innovative use of hydroformed frame rails and featured a transaxle that improved not only the weight distribution but also increased interior space. Other new features included a drive-by-wire throttle and a variable effort power steering system, but most notably, the C5 would introduce the world to the now legendary all-aluminum “LS” V8 engine family.

Chevrolet celebrated this half-century milestone with the 2003 Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition, finished in special Anniversary Red paint with Xirallic aluminum-oxide flakes under a special tinted clear-coat, complemented by special Shale leather interior trim with anniversary badges and cockpit embroidery. The new F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control was also standard on the Anniversary Edition.

Showing less than 9,500 miles, this preserved 50th Anniversary convertible is equipped with the desirable factory six-speed manual transmission and is said to remain unmodified throughout.

The seller states, “I service with oil/filter changes as evidenced by a photo submitted of the Vette on a private shop hoist. CARFAX would not have this information. Personalized care is better than strangers that would have no attachment to a vehicle. CARFAX mileage inconsistency is due to Superior Auto Electric recording an incorrect mileage. They recorded it 176 miles less than actual.

“Bought car from a collector who had also bought from collectors, etc. My intention was to use it but a month after acquiring it, my wife and I purchased a second vacation home in Alaska thus I spend summers in Alaska. There is only a small window of opportunity to drive it upon my return. The Corvette is pristine.”
