Description

The 2002 Maserati Coupe GT marked a significant evolution in Maserati’s grand touring lineage. Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2002, it replaced the 3200 GT and introduced a new era of design and engineering. Styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign, the Coupe retained the elegant proportions of its predecessor but featured updated aesthetics, including a more refined grille and sleeker headlights. 

Under the hood, the Coupe GT housed a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 engine developed by Ferrari, producing 390 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant replaced the twin-turbocharged unit of the 3200 GT, offering smoother and more linear performance. The engine was paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission. 

Built as a true Gran Turismo, the Coupe GT featured rear-wheel drive, a double-wishbone suspension, and a balanced weight distribution thanks to its front-mid engine layout. Inside, it offered a luxurious cabin with leather upholstery, a high-end audio system, and seating for four, though rear space was limited. The 2002 Coupe GT successfully blended Italian style, Ferrari engineering, and touring comfort, helping reestablish Maserati’s presence in the global luxury sports car market.

The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this three-owner 2002 Maserati Coupe GT in Florida, Georgia, and Ohio. 

The seller says, “This car belonged to my dad, who was a huge car enthusiast and bought it in 2013. While he drove the car regularly, he never drove it in bad weather. The car is bone stock and has always been reliable and easy to maintain, and it runs, drives, and sounds great. He specifically chose this car because of the rarer manual transmission, as opposed to the paddle shift. Since his passing in 2021, the car has mostly — unfortunately — sat. I have only put about 1,000 miles on it since then, thus the main reason for the sale. I have a clean, clear title in my name.”
