Description

At the turn of the millennium, the high-end luxury sedan field was crowded with quality contenders. But Lexus put Germany and England on notice with its third-generation model, the rear-drive LS430, which built on the reputation for quality and beauty that the LS400 had earned.

The 2001 LS430 was named for its larger, 4.3-liter V8 engine, which made the same 290 horses but an additional 20 pound-feet of torque for quicker acceleration. The LS430 debuted evolutionary styling, with a profile that was both round and boxy, flowing, aerodynamic lines, a prominent semi-rectangular grille, flush angular headlights, and a square rear end. Its interior continued that functional beauty with numerous leather upholstery and wood trim options. The top salesman had been driving it a few miles to work every day so it had very low mileage at the time.”
