Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. This special offering is once again a presentation of the unique, with American Muscle, British class, and heavy post war iron from multiple platforms all on offer. These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE. * * * Miata has always been the answer for enthusiasts yearning for a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat sports car with impressive handling. And when the second-generation MX-5 Miata debuted in 1999, the 2,300-pound Miata was even better: a solid chassis, curvier bodywork, a refreshed interior, and a more powerful 1.8L four cylinder backed by a manual or automatic transmission. Car and Driver’s 1999 10Best Cars article stated, “Its controls are so light, so responsive, and so direct that your thoughts are turned into motion as if by magic, and you yearn to drive the Miata for the unadulterated pleasure of it.”
Sounds great — but what if a lightweight Miata could look like a classic, first-generation Mustang?
The two-seat M1stang replica combines Miata bones with early Mustang-style bodywork. It was produced by noted body man and Mustang enthusiast Bill Carnes, who realized that a stock Miata and a classic Mustang have similar dimensions, and Ford sheetmetal could fit on a Miata body. The result was an impressively accurate Mustang replica underpinned by a modern Miata.
This M1stang started life as a 2001 Mazda Miata, and was built to look like a 1965 Mustang GT Convertible. It’s powered by a 1.8L four cylinder backed by a four-speed automatic transmission, and wears new steel body panels, correct Mustang front and rear bumpers, and Mustang exterior trim. And its interior is finished in red and black bucket seats, with chrome roll bars.
This 2001 Mazda Miata-based M1stang 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible Replica is now represented at no reserve in Alabama by a Broad Arrow Specialist with owner's manuals, a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, and a clean New York title in the current owner's name.
