Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Mercedes-Benz has been producing a two-seat sporty convertible under the SL-Class “Sport Leicht/Lightweight” moniker since 1954. Known for their sporty touring qualities, comfort, and quality, the roadsters' model names are based on their engine displacement; for instance, a 300 SL is powered by a 3.0-liter engine, and a 500 SL is powered by a 5.0-liter engine. Beginning in 1994, Mercedes bucked tradition and began placing the class designation before the displacement in each model's name. The practice continued through the 2002 model year, when use of the now-legendary R129 chassis came to an end.
