Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

In 1991, Tokyo Motor Show participants witnessed the birth of a future classic: the third-generation RX-7 sports car. Known as the FD, this tiny 2+2 was light, curvaceous, and aggressive looking. It was styled with a central air intake, fog lamps, and hidden headlights, a low roofline with a sloping rear deck, and a curved rear end with a one-piece taillight housing and spoiler. And between the fenders was a technological tour de force: a twin-turbo rotary engine with only three primary moving parts, featuring spinning triangular rotors that compressed and ignited the air-fuel mixture. Combined with a rigid frame, double-wishbone suspension, and 50/50 weight distribution, the nimble, rear-drive RX-7 was revolutionary, and enthusiasts loved it. A Car and Driver comparison test gushed, “The RX-7 was top leech in traction events. It won braking with an arresting-hook 156-foot stop…roadholding with a near-unbelievable 0.99 g.” And that was on 1990s tires.

And the FD RX-7 got even better in 1999 with new aerodynamic body components, upgraded turbos, and additional engine refinements that made it one of today’s most desirable JDM sports cars.

This clean, right-hand-drive 1999 RX-7 wears bolt-on performance upgrades, tasteful interior enhancements, and an aftermarket body kit.
