Description
The fourth-generation Mustang, which was introduced in 1994, received its usual mid-life styling update in 1999. Its “edge design” bodywork was aggressive; however, the most muscular look was reserved for the new SVT Cobra. A unique front fascia with round driving lights, a Cobra R-like hood, three-inch polished exhaust tips, and forged, 17-inch wheels differentiated the snake from common Mustangs.
The big news was an independent rear suspension, which reduced unsprung weight by 125 pounds and gave the Cobra highly refined road-handling prowess. Combined with the MacPherson strut/control arm front suspension and massive Brembo disc brakes, the Cobra was hard to keep up with in the twisties.
Under the Cobra’s hood sat an all-new V8 known as the “Romeo Engine.” Carefully hand-built by just two trusted technicians at the engine plant in Romeo, Michigan, this 4.6-liter DOHC powerplant utilized an all-aluminum, deep-skirt block for rigidity and light weight. And its new tumble-port cylinder-head design resulted in big airflow, helping this V8 make 320 horsepower and blasting the Cobra to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds.
This two-owner 1999 Ford Mustang Cobra Convertible wears eye-catching red paint, and has been meticulously maintained and garaged, ready for its next owner.

Ownership History
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this two-owner 1999 Ford Mustang Cobra in Washington, Arizona, and back to Washington.
The consignor states, “Our Mustang Cobra SVT convertible was purchased from the original owner, a personal friend, at 46,000 miles in 2004. He purchased it new in 1999 at Korum Ford, Puyallup, WA. We can attest that the car always has been garaged and well maintained (always fed Mobil 1 5-30 synthetic oil), and was never raced nor in any accident. We replaced the power steering pump in 2009 at 53,000 miles. During the last routine service, a pre-sale inspection was performed and the rear brakes were replaced. Front brakes are at 90%. The latest battery was installed in March 2024, and tires were installed in March 2019 at 66,000 miles.”
