Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The AM General Hummer traces its origins directly to the U.S. military’s High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), developed in the early 1980s for extreme off‑road capability. Following public exposure during the Gulf War and advocacy from civilian enthusiasts — including Arnold Schwarzenegger — AM General introduced a civilian version in 1992.
Production of civilian versions of the Hummer has long remained with AM General in South Bend, Indiana. The Open Top configuration represented the most utilitarian civilian variant, featuring a removable soft top, open cargo bed, and four‑door layout that closely mirrored military specifications. Powered by a 6.5‑liter turbocharged Detroit Diesel V8.
This open-top Hummer is finished in Gloss White paint with a removable soft top roof, brush guard, dual fuel tanks, and an open rear cargo bed. Inside, the SUV has a gray interior with high‑back gray vinyl bucket seats with black bolsters. Mechanical features include a General Motors 4L80‑E four‑speed automatic transmission and fulltime Torsen Torque‑sensing four‑wheel drive with dual‑range transfer case. An aftermarket Rough Country LED light bar on the brush guard and a Kenwood KDC-X502 stereo with AM/FM radio, CD, USB, and Bluetooth have been installed.
This 1999 AM General Hummer Open Top is now offered with an accident-free CARFAX Vehicle History Report and a clean Florida title by the selling dealer.
