Description
The E38, the third generation of BMW's 7-Series, was produced from 1994 to 2001 and marked a significant leap in luxury and technology. Development began in early 1988 under design directors Claus Luthe and later Dr. Wolfgang Reitzle, with Boyke Boyer's concept refined into the final production design approved in February 1991. Production commenced with pilot models in July 1993 and series production in April 1994, leading to the U.S. launch in November 1994. The E38 featured an array of engines, including straight-six, V8, and V12 options, and was notable for introducing curtain airbags, satellite navigation, and an in-built television, making it a pioneer in both safety and advanced features in the luxury sedan market. Now, more than 20 years after its series production ceased, these cars are beloved by enthusiasts who praise them for their blend of ease of service mixed with modern amenities.
