Description
The Aston Martin DB7, introduced in 1994, marked a turning point for the brand, revitalizing its image and commercial success. Designed by Ian Callum, the DB7 was originally conceived as a Jaguar project but was repurposed by Aston Martin under Ford’s ownership. Built in Bloxham, Oxfordshire, it featured a sleek, modern design that retained classic Aston Martin elegance. The Volante — its convertible variant — followed in 1996.
The DB7 was initially powered by a supercharged 3.2-liter inline-six, giving the car a smooth yet forceful power delivery, ideal for grand touring. It was paired with an intercooler to manage intake temperatures and improve efficiency. While not as powerful as the V12 that arrived in 1999, the inline-six offered a lighter front end and a more balanced driving feel.
Praised for its refined driving experience, luxurious interior, and timeless styling, the DB7 succeeded in reviving the Aston Martin brand. Production ended in 2004, with over 7,000 units built, making it the most successful Aston Martin at the time.
This 1997 DB7 Volante shows just over 15k miles and is finished in red with a beige convertible top over color-coordinated leather upholstery. The supercharged 3.2-liter inline-six sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
