Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 1996 model year capped a 13-year run for the C4 Chevrolet Corvette. When the C4 rolled out in 1984, it represented a clean break from the Zora Arkus-Duntov-engineered C3, with a completely new chassis and sleeker, more modern (but still evolutionary) styling.

In a departure from the fiberglass panels of its forebears, the C4's rear bumpers and panels used a sheet molding compound. The car came standard with an electronic dashboard with a digital liquid crystal display instrument cluster. It displayed a combination of digital graphics for speed and fuel level and used digital displays for the tachometer and other important engine functions. And for the first time since 1957, the Corvette used single headlights instead of dual units, but they were still retractable.

The 1996 Corvette introduced a new 5.7-liter LT4 330-horsepower engine called the LT4, but most buyers selected the base 5.7-liter LT1, which generated 300 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque. A unique feature to the 1996 Corvette was the “Real Time Damping” system, which measured the wheel travel at all four corners and electronically adjusted the suspension for each wheel individually – all in real time.
