This Rare Volvo 960 Executive Limousine Gets All the Attention

The 900 series stands as the culmination of Volvo's solid, safe, and dependable design ethos. Tracing its roots back to the original 100 series launched in the mid-1960s, Volvos garnered praise from commuters and car enthusiasts alike for their iconic boxy appearance, sturdy engines, rear-wheel drive, and practical yet supremely comfortable interiors – qualities that endure today. The 900 series, produced from 1990-1998, introduced numerous enhancements over its predecessors including modular engines with increased power followed by a significant facelift in 1995.  The flagship of the Volvo range, the 960, boasted all the luxury features befitting of a class-leading luxury sedan, including leather upholstery, reading lamps, wood-trimmed dashboard and doors, and a CD player. It made an ideal candidate, then, for conversion into a stretch 960 Executive: a long-wheelbase limousine commonly used for the purposes escorting Volvo corporate executives as well as visiting VIPs and dignitaries.  It was also not uncommon for customers of the Volvo Overseas Delivery program to be escorted from Gothenburg Airport to their new car awaiting them at the factory delivery suite. Bespoke Volvos like the 960 Executive Limousine offered here represent the ultimate in Swedish luxury transport, offering seating for up to eight passengers and a privacy partition.

Ownership History

The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report shows that this 1995 Volvo 960 Executive Limousine was initially registered in New Jersey prior to being exported to Sweden in June 1998 and imported back into the United States later that year.  The consignor reports acquiring this 1995 Volvo 960 Executive Limousine in 2022.
