Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The zenith of Porsche's long-running front-engined, four-cylinder 924 and 944 series was the 968, introduced in 1992. Starting as an evolution of the 3.0-liter 944 S2, Porsche boasted that the 968 ended up being 80 percent new. Production of the new 968 was now based in Porsche's own Zuffenhausen factory as opposed to Audi's Neckarsulm plant, which had been utilized for the 924 and 944. Sharing the front-engine/rear transaxle layout of its predecessor, the Porsche 968 was wrapped in fresh bodywork that was the product of original 924 designer Harm Lagaay. The updated styling had many inspirations drawing from the 928 at the front while offering more integrated rear-end styling. In fact, the Coupe was commonly contrasted with the Porsche 959 supercar in 1990s factory advertising.

Featured in the 2022 Hagerty Bull Market List, the Porsche 968 is a modern collectable that has seen rapid growth in popularity in recent years. As the final iteration of Porsche’s perfectly balanced front-engined sports car, this 968 is a car designed and built for drivers. An intriguing choice for anyone seeking entry-level vintage performance, it is clear why Hagerty believes the Porsche 968 is “poised for growth.”
