Description

While vising the United States in 1958, Mr. Katsuji Kawamata, President of Nissan Motors Japan, attended a showing of a Broadway Musical, My Fair Lady. The title stuck with him and when the company required a name for its new sports car offering, Kawamata was prepared with the perfect moniker. The Fairlady, marketed as the Datsun Z series in the USA, became a legendary success across the globe, earning high praise as a reliable, affordable, high-performance alternative to European imports. With the standardization of fuel injection and increased demands for technology and luxury for the 1980’s market, Nissan would launch the new Fairlady Z (300 ZX in America) with massive changes to the sports car formula. Nissan jettisoned the old inline-six and replaced it with a brand newly developed V6 known as the VD-series of engines. The groundbreaking motors were among the most technologically advanced of their time, with sequential multi-port fuel injection, an 8-bit engine control unit capable of managing timing, spark, and air-fuel mixture. The twin throttle bodies provide quick response and immediate acceleration. This “VG30DE” was the first dual-overhead-cam version of the V6. It has a 3.0-liter displacement and is rated at 222 horsepower.

Uncommon in the United States, this Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) 1992 Nissan Fairlady Z is finished in Midnight Blue Pearl (TH1 Color Code) with a Blue leather and cloth interior. Imported in late 2022 to the United States, it currently shows 55,811 kilometers, offering a chance to experience an exciting version of the legendary Japanese sports when computer processing power was still measured in bits.
