Euro 1992 Mercedes-Benz 190E Avantgarde Azzurro Five-Speed

Description

Ten years and nearly two million vehicles after the W201 chassis debuted, Mercedes-Benz created something unique for the 190 sedan’s 10th anniversary: the Avantgarde series. These limited-production models included the entry-level Rosso (red exterior), the mid-tier Verde (green exterior), and the premium Azzurro (blue exterior) versions.

And while the artsy Rosso and low-emissions diesel Verde were mostly style pieces with fabric interiors, the high-end Azzurro was a true performance machine with the looks to match. It came with a fuel-injected engine, a lowered sport suspension, and alloy wheels that complemented deep metallic blue paint. However, the interior was arguably the most impressive part: each of the Azzurro’s black leather seats had its own color accent, including the special bolstered rear seats. And they were joined by unique accents on the door panels, steering wheel, and shift knob. The cabin design was edgy, yet just cohesive enough to be beautiful.

And because only 950 Azzurros were built with none sold new in America, this clean, recently imported 1992 190E Avantgarde Azzurro is incredibly rare.
