Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Created by Erik Buell, a former Harley-Davidson engineer, the RSS 1200 was Buell’s effort to transform Harley-Davidson engines into high-performance sportbikes. The Buell RSS 1200 was powered by a 1200 cc air-cooled V-twin engine derived from the Harley-Davidson Sportster and Buell’s patented no-vibration uniplanar engine-mount system.

The bike’s features also included a lightweight frame and adjustable components that allowed riders to tailor the handling to their preferences. The RSS 1200's design was both functional and distinctive, with sculpted bodywork that enhanced aerodynamics and gave the bike a striking appearance.

Despite its impressive performance and design, the Buell RSS 1200 remained a rare and exclusive model, with limited production numbers. This exclusivity has made it a sought-after collector's item among motorcycle enthusiasts. This single-owner 1992 Buell RSS 1200 is No. 62 of 110 produced by the original Buell company before Harley bought a majority stake and took control of the company. It comes with multiple extras, including an autographed photo of Erik Buell posing with this exact bike, take by the consignor.

Ownership History

The owner of this 1992 Buell RSS 1200 purchased it on 5 April 1993. “My frame is chrome moly steel, hand cut, hand mitered, hand jigged and hand TIG welded by Jim Schneider of Competition R&D. One man + 4 days = 1 frame. To quote Court Canfield from his book, ‘All Buell frames are eye candy, but a Schneider frame is a work of art.’”
