While the JDM Mitsubishi GTO was battling Skylines in Japan, its American counterpart, the 3000GT, was wowing U.S. enthusiasts. Wearing intakes and spoilers built into its sensuous body, the 3000GT was one of the most visually striking sports cars of the 1990s. It was built on a sturdy foundation featuring a fully independent suspension with struts up front and a multilink coil spring system in the rear. And its overbuilt, 3.0-liter V6 was equipped with 24 valves, which were actuated by dual overhead cams.

But upgrading to the twin-turbo VR4 gave drivers incredibly advanced automotive technology. Those intercooled turbos pushed horsepower to an impressive 300 near the 6,500-rpm redline, with the five-speed manual tempting even the most disciplined driver to drop the clutch. When they did, an all-wheel-drive system shot the VR4 to 60 in 5.5 seconds — and dual-mode electronic shocks, clever four-wheel steering, and active aerodynamics kept it glued to the road.

Throw in a high-end interior featuring a premium audio system, power accessories, and comfortable sport seats, and the VR4 was one of the best-equipped sports cars in the world.

This 1991 3000GT VR4 is finished in bright white, and has only traveled 31,700 miles since new.

The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 in Florida, Connecticut, Washington, and California. 

The consignor states, “I don’t know what the February 2019 Carfax damage reported is, as Carfax did not show area of damage. The car has been on a rack for inspections before repairs/service, and there are no concerns regarding structure/frame. The car drives great!”
