Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The new-for-1980 VW Rabbit Convertible was an instant hit with buyers when it replaced its air-cooled predecessor – the eternally popular Beetle Convertible. As one of the few open-topped cars offered on the U.S. market, VW Convertibles of the era are rightly praised for keeping the thrill of top-down motoring alive for sun-seekers. By 1985, the Golf replaced the Rabbit and the Convertible was simply named the Cabriolet. In 1988, the Cabriolet received an exterior refresh with body-colored bumpers, wheel arch trim, side sills, and front grille updates. While Volkswagen offered the base Cabriolet, Best Seller, and premium white "Boutique" model, perhaps the most collectible are the Wolfsburg Limited Editions based on the Best Seller. Wolfsburg's received special paint, special interiors, and a dark blue soft top and a matching top boot creating a one-year-only combination of colors and a true modern classic ever there ever was one.
