Description

During the 1980s, the muscle car market had dwindled, but the Mustang managed to survive. The new generation of Mustang, often referred to as the "Fox Body," offered compact, sports performance with an electronic fuel-injected V8. To combat increasing international competition, the 302 cu-in was marketed as the "5.0" with two badges on each front fender. While the car was rated in excess of 200 horsepower, its 285 lb-ft peak torque was its real selling point. Thanks to its snappy throttle response, the Mustang GT could go from zero to 60 mph in about six seconds. Car and Driver gave the Mustang an edge over its primary rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, due to its sportier feel. This 1980s model of the Ford Mustang has changed very little over the past 37 years, making it a fantastic opportunity to acquire an example of an American muscle car.
