Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1989 Chrysler TC by Maserati was a bold and unique collaboration between Chrysler and Maserati, aimed at creating a hand
crafted luxury grand tourer. The project was initiated by two long-time friends, Lee Iacocca, then CEO of Chrysler, and Alejandro de Tomaso, owner of Maserati. The TC, which stands for “Turbo Convertible,” was introduced at the 1986 Los Angeles Auto Show and was built on a modified version of Chrysler’s K-platform.
Production of the TC began in late 1988, with assembly taking place in Milan, Italy. Standard power came from a Chrysler 2.2-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, producing 160 horsepower, paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The TC was designed to be a high-end vehicle and featured luxury amenities such as Italian leather seats, a 10-speaker sound system, and a removable hardtop with opera windows.
Despite its premium features, the TC struggled in the market due to its high price and resemblance to the less expensive Chrysler LeBaron. Only 7,300 units of the $33,000 TC were produced between 1989 and ’91. This stock 1989 model wears Royal Cabernet Pearlcoat Metallic (burgundy) paint, Ginger leather upholstery, and woodgrain trim.

Ownership History
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this six-owner 1989 Chrysler TC by Maserati in Washington state for its entire life. It was purchased new 21 May 1990 in Zillah, and its current Tacoma owner bought it in September 2019. The seller says, “The car is completely stock and rust-free. The removable hard top has not been removed in several years, but when I purchased it and helped to put the hard top on, the soft top was in excellent shape. I would rate the paint as only fair.”
