Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Few cars embody the pragmatic elegance and engineering integrity of 1980s European sedans quite like the Volvo 700 series. Designed with Volvo’s signature focus on safety and longevity, the 740 GLE offered a refined driving experience with understated Scandinavian style.
Under the hood, this 740 GLE is powered by the B230F engine—a 2.3-liter, eight-valve, naturally aspirated inline-four. Known for its durability and simplicity, the B230F features Bosch LH-Jetronic electronic fuel injection and produces approximately 114 hp and 136 lb-ft of torque. This example is equipped with the four-speed automatic, which was replaced in 2014. Staying true to classic Volvo driving dynamics, power is delivered to the rear wheels.
The original owner cared for this 740 from new until 2021, after which it passed to just two additional owners. It comes with a comprehensive catalog of maintenance and repair records. Finished in factory Silver Metallic over black leather, the car shows 182,071 miles and reflects its well-documented use.
In addition to the transmission replacement, the car also received a new power steering rack in 2021. Most recently, the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter were replaced. It is offered with a clean title, accident-free CARFAX report, and comprehensive service history documentation.

Ownership History
Originally sold in the U.S. in 1988, this Volvo 740 GLE remained with its original owner until 2021. It was then briefly owned by a Volvo enthusiast before being acquired by the current seller, who found it too well-preserved to use as a daily driver. The seller states, “This amazing condition Volvo 740 was owned by the original owner from new until 2021 with records of all repairs done while in their possession. It was then owned by an enthusiast who had plans that never came to be at which point I purchased the car, but it is just too nice to use as a daily driver. Beautiful silver metallic paint over black leather interior—the paint and bodywork are in immaculate condition from being garage kept its entire life.”
