Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

“The Full-Size Blazer has quite a heritage—one which began in 1969 when Blazer emerged as America’s original full-size sport utility vehicle. Many model years later, it is still the ideal vehicle for the adventurer who really wants to go off into the horizon,” wrote Chevrolet of its 1988 Blazer.

While Jeep, International, and Ford had been making small off-road vehicles, it was GM that took the lead in scaling up small off-road-oriented, multi-purpose vehicles to the half-ton pickup platform with the introduction of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer in 1969. Essentially a K10 pickup with a short integral box as part of the interior, the K5 Blazer pioneered the pickup-based SUV. An easily unbolted fiberglass top or a more uncommon vinyl soft top with a tailgate/liftgate configuration in the rear made for an eminently usable cargo area.

For the second generation, the Blazer’s top was abbreviated, only covering the rear section aft of the cab, remaining largely unchanged until production ended in 1991. With powerful gas and diesel V8 engines and four-wheel drive, the “Full-size Blazer is impressive, whether you need riding comfort, cargo capacity or a tough combination of both,” and this restored and upgraded Blazer K5 is proof.
