The four-wheel-drive 1980 Toyota Bandeirante represents a key moment in the long-running Brazilian production of Toyota’s rugged Land Cruiser utility line. Built in São Bernardo do Campo, the Bandeirante had been locally produced since 1958 and fully nationalized by 1962, evolving into a uniquely Brazilian variant of the global Land Cruiser 40-Series.

By 1980, the model was available with the durable Mercedes-Benz OM‑314 diesel engine, a 3.8liter four‑liter four‑cylinder known for its reliability and torque — qualities that made the Bandeirante a favorite among rural workers, offroad explorers, and fleet users.
