7,200-Mile 1984 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT Convertible

Description

The Mustang GT, which had returned in 1982 after an eleven-year absence, saw the power output of its 5.0-liter V8 increased to 175-horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque which was transmitted to the rear wheels via a new BorgWarner five-speed manual transmission and an updated 3.27:1 differential. Other improvements included wider wheels and tires for better traction, an enlarged stabilizer bar, a smoother nose, updated taillights, and a reverse hood scoop. The 1983 Mustang also marked the first time the pony car was available as a convertible since 1973. Largely unchanged for the 1984 model year, this particular 1984 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT Convertible is one of the best-preserved examples to come to market in recent years.

Ownership History

The Mustang was purchased new by the consignor’s father at Bill Wright Ford in Kingstree, South Carolina, and spent time in Tennessee before passing to the consignor in 2011. The consignor relocated with the vehicle to Georgia where he continued showing at local shows as well as in Florida.
